What is a Gift Article?
Commoners.in subscribers enjoy a special benefit allowing them to gift free articles each month to anyone they choose. This feature is designed to help subscribers easily share content with friends, family, and colleagues without the need for recipients to subscribe or sign in. Gifted articles do not count against the article limit for non-subscribers.
How Can I Gift an Article?
To gift an article on the Commoners.in website, follow these steps:
1. **Locate the Article**: Navigate to the article you wish to gift.
2. **Select the Gift Icon**: Click on the “Gift this article” icon located to the left of the article, beneath the "Share this article" section.
3. **Choose Your Sharing Method**: You can either:
- **Copy the Link**: Share it directly with your recipient.
- **Send an Email**: Input the recipient’s email address for direct sharing.
*Note*: Article gifting is currently not available through the Commoners.in News app or Apple News.
How Many Articles Can I Gift?
Subscribers can gift up to **5 articles each calendar month**. Each gifted article can be shared with multiple recipients.
When you click the gift icon, your count does not decrease immediately. It will only decrease when you select a sharing method (copy link or send email). Importantly, sharing the same article multiple times does not affect your article count. However, each time you initiate a gift, your total will reduce by one.
How Do I Know If I’ve Reached My Gifted Article Limit?
Once you have used all 5 of your gifted articles for the month, you will receive a notification indicating that you can check back at the beginning of the next calendar month for 5 more articles.
## Can I Gift an Article by Simply Sharing on social media?
No, you must use the gift icon to ensure that recipients receive free access. Sharing the link through social media or copying it from your browser’s address bar will not create the special link that provides free access for non-subscribers.
Can I Gift an Article Marked as “Subscriber Only”?
Articles marked as “Subscriber Only” cannot be gifted.

As a recipient of a gift article, you have been given access to read it for free, without needing to subscribe or sign in. This access lasts for **7 days**.

No, you do not need to register or sign in to read the gifted article. However, if you wish to access additional articles in the future, you will need to create an account.
How Long Do I Have Free Access to This Article?
You can read the gifted. Remember, gifted articles do not count towards the article limit for non-subscribers.
